we start with the foul languages
and this is what my colleagues and i were doing these few days
chudiah.....gandu.....laylomo......diulay.......
i feel so great when i loudly say "diu lay lo mo" publicly and no one understand what does it mean
and i was asked "what does that mean?"
i then feel even greater when seeing his sincere smile while he was asking
despite how hard we learnt each other's languages
the english "fuck-off" is still our favourite word we used for communication
it can stand for "i'm so busy, don't bother me"
stand for "no i won't cook it for you"
stand for "you block my way, can you let me pass"
basically it stands for anything
funny
so is my english improved after living here for a few months?
i think yes i did
what i mean improved is not about fewer grammatical mistakes or better sentence structure
(as you could notice by reading this entry)
what i mean is the level of confidence you have when you communicate with english
i can talk to anyone in english just as confidence as in cantonese
since no one cares about whether you have an "s" or not after "finger" when you're actually talking about "5 fingers"
and almost anyone can understand what you are referring to even though you don't know what that thing is called, since your body language would help
so for those in hong kong(except some of you)
i'm giving you a little suggestion
just speak everything that comes to your mind when you're communicating in english
only teachers will response to your grammar
be brave
and there's no shame at all to make mistake since you're speaking a secondary language
